NEW CGSL Football Development Model

The Spokane Catholic Grade School League will begin implementing a new football development model for the 2025 fall season. The goal of this program is to help provide a positive experience for kids learning the game; creating a more gradual approach to the sport by bridging the gap between flag football and full contact tackle. Using the USA FDM framwork, our 5th & 6th grade players will begin the season in padded flag/tacklebar and transition to rookie tackle as appropriate during the season. The CGSL is still working on our specific model and more details will be provided as they are finalized.

Game & Practice Information for 2023

Games on Sunday afternoons @ Gonzaga Prep

Practices Monday-Thursday 3-5pm @ Cannon Hill Park

Walkthroughs 2:45-3:30pm Friday on HPE field

Equipment & Uniform Information

Required Equipment Items:
- Shoulder pads and helmet with chin strap - provided and fitted by Cataldo
- Mouthguard with strap - provided by family (recommend widestrap)
  - No noisemaking or flavored mouthguards
- Cleats - Provided by family

Optional Equipment Items - supplied by families and must be inspected by Cataldo Football Staff:
- Visor - must be clear, no tint and designed for specific helmet
- Shoulder pad attachments - neck brace, etc
- Gloves - receiving or lineman (recommended)
- Handwarming pouch

Uniform Items Provided by Cataldo:
- Game jerseys
- 7th/8th - navy and green
- 5th/6th - navy and gold
  - Gold game pant shells
  - Navy and pink game socks
  - Practice jerseys
  - QB towel and wristband (for quarterbacks)

Uniform Items Provided by Families:
- Integrated practice pants - these are football pants with the pads build in! Players will wear them to practice and pull their gold shells over them for games.
- Cold weather base layer - needs to be navy or black, no hood (sweatshirts are not recommended, something like an Under Armour is ideal)
