Basketball Sizing Information

The basketball size for the 3rd/4th grade girls division is Size 5: 27.5"

Cataldo provides basketballs for all practices, so parents are not required to purchase a ball for use at practice. That said, we do understand that kids like to have a ball of their own to play with and strongly recommend they use the same size ball their division uses. If your player has a ball they want to use in practice, that is absolutely okay as they understand that other players will probably also use it during the course of drills and the ball meets the following guidelines:

1. The ball is completely intact and kept clean (preferably only used indoors).
2. The ball is the size they will be using in their CGSL Division.

Court Shoes vs Street Shoes

Street Shoes - any style or type of shoe worn outdoors and subjected to the elements; recess, walking to school, etc.

Court Shoes - Non marking athletic shoes that are only worn indoors on the intended court during specific activities. 

Though supportive and well fitting footwear is recommended for each sport your Cougar may participate in, no specific basketball shoe is required. However, players need a pair of non marking athletic shoes with adequate traction on the sole, that are kept clean and only used on the court for the duration of the season. This helps keep the court as clean as possible to help reduce the risk of injury by preventing slips & falls during play.
